About me

MY MISSION

To help Chicago restaurants leverage social media to attract new guests and to keep the old ones coming back for more.

My Origin Story

“Either write something worth reading, or do something worth writing” -Benjamin Franklin

I have a wife and two children, and I use my job as an excuse to get them to leave me alone.

Obviously, I’m joking (kind of). I love spending time with my family and taking them on cool adventures.

We recently moved back to the US after a 6-year stint in China where we founded our own English school.

After my wife became pregnant with our second boy, it was time to move back home to California.

Although California is a beautiful state, it is also absurdly expensive.

After the second child was excavated from my wife’s insides, we quickly fled the state and become California refugees.

Somehow, we ended up in Tulsa, Oklahoma where, surprisingly, not everyone rides horses to work and wears a gun on their hip. I mean, most people do, but not everyone.

When we got there, I applied to work at an Irish Pub and was promptly hired as a server.

I immediately fell in love with the pub, its authentic style, and its delicious food.

One day as I was waiting tables, a thought crossed my mind. “I love eating, drinking, writing, and taking pictures. Wouldn’t it be sweet to get paid to do what I love?”

At that time the pub’s social media content was seriously lacking, so I volunteered to revamp it in a way that would reflect the style and beauty of our authentic Irish eatery.

The Huawei phone I had brought home from China had an amazing camera that was better than any American phone I could ever afford, so I started using it to take fabulous shots of the pub.

As my Chinese spy phone worked its magic and my caption writing abilities improved, my GM began to take notice.

Before long, I had talked my way into a paid position in which my main responsibility was to write, take pictures, and interact with our guests on social media. It was a dream come true!

From the time I began managing the pub’s social media in early 2020, we experienced a substantial increase in revenue.

In 2021, the pub’s sales were 13% higher than they’d ever been in 20 years of doing business. And that was with limited seating during a pandemic!

Coincidence??? I think not!

Since I have proven myself as an effective writer and pub marketer, I have decided to take my game to the next level by opening my own freelance marketing business in my new home city of Chicago.

It is my goal to help small business owners market their brands with beautiful content that sells… and also to find peace and quiet away from my screaming children.
